So are you ready to make change happen? Here are a few suggestions on what you can do to help more people have access to clean water.
1) Conserve. Try to use less water but also think about your “water footprint.” It takes water to make the products we use here in the U.S. Sometimes, water usage during production diverts limited water resources from those who need it to survive. To learn more about your water footprint visit http://www.iatp.org/iatp/commentaries.cfm?refID=105855
2) Raise awareness. You don’t have to be a celebrity to get the message out about clean water. Educate yourself and talk to others about clean water. You could try organizing an event to spread awareness about people who lack access to water. Encourage more people to get involved!
3) Donate your birthday. Charity: water shows how people can raise money by asking for donations instead of gifts on birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, or holidays. You can change people’s lives through this simple action. Find out more: http://mycharitywater.org/p/signIn
4) Donate. There are plenty of non-profits working to ensure everyone has an adequate amount of clean water, but they need your help. Your money could fund water projects like drilling new wells.

5) Support the right to water.
Tell U.S. lawmakers that you want the U.S. to recognize the human right to water.
Become a signatory of the “People’s Statement on the Right to Water,” which among other requests, asks the UN to “create a water convention binding under international law.” Visit: http://www.righttowater.net/id2.html
Sign the petition for Article 31. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights currently has 30 articles laying out rights to which everyone should be entitled. Make the right to water #31. http://www.article31.org/
These are only a few ideas. I urge you to use your own creativity and imagination to help solve the water crisis!
